Angie Poss (she/her)
President & Co-Owner

Angie is a communications & public relations professional whose work is grounded in storytelling that uplifts the voices & values of New Mexicans to advance policy change. She knows that in order for our people to have more opportunity to thrive, their lived experiences have to be heard by those wielding the power.
Angie led the communications team that helped to elect one of the first Native American women to Congress, now-Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland. From March to November 2022, she oversaw the Communications efforts that helped to seal a 70 percent electoral victory for Constitutional Amendment #1.
Angie is a self-taught graphic designer, an adept organizational spokesperson, & skilled writer who has had work published in news outlets across New Mexico, including Santa Fe-based Outside Magazine, & nationally in the New York Times, Washington Post, the Hill, & others. She’s a proud Lobo with degrees in political science & public communication.
Brittany Poss (she/her)
Vice President Data & Research, Co-Owner

Brittany is a data analytics & public policy specialist who believes in using data to help advocates, organizers, & policymakers identify strategies to close the gaps for vulnerable & traditionally underrepresented groups. She is passionate about clearly communicating insights & developing actionable recommendations.
Brittany has engaged in extensive quantitative & qualitative public opinion, demographic, and geospatial research as Director of Data & Analytics at Research & Polling. She also served as the first ever Deputy Director of the City of Albuquerque’s Office of Equity & Inclusion where she partnered with community organizations to develop, advance, & evaluate equity initiatives across the city.
Brittany also managed a $3.3 million National Science Foundation grant at the University of New Mexico that focused on recruiting & retaining women & faculty of color in STEM fields. She received a master’s degree in public policy with distinction from the University of New Mexico.
Janelle Johnson (she/her)
Vice President Strategy & Implementation, Co-Owner

Janelle is a strategy & implementation consultant who works with state & local governments, private companies, & community partners to transform their vision & objectives into meaningful & tangible results. Janelle utilizes human-centered design rather than typical business models to identify key objectives & priorities. She believes that this approach results in broader & more significant change in a shorter time.
Janelle has used these methods as Senior Analyst for New Mexico’s Government Accountability Office, the first of its kind established by then-State Auditor Tim Keller. She went on to refine her leadership skills as Assistant Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Albuquerque Mayor’s Office, where she was charged with overseeing & executing the delivery of the Administration’s vision & goals across 22-plus departments & teams. She also helped facilitate the administrative transition of a government organization with more than 6,000 employees in a two-week period following an election.
Janelle later combined her experience in government & leadership skills to transition to the technology sector, where she became a market leader in business development & force multiplier for executive teams. She focused on the alignment of organizational, programmatic & operational strategy to scale, grow, & impact the community. She received a master’s degree in political science from the University of New Mexico.
Liliana Castillo (she/her)

Director of Communications
Liliana Castillo is a multi-faceted communications professional whose career has centered on amplifying unheard voices and stories, leaning into intersectional issues that impact New Mexicans, and bringing people together to build power for change. Liliana has seen the power of centering people, sharing stories, and creating partnerships in her 17 years of leadership in journalism and advocacy communications.
Liliana created the Open New Doors campaign, a communications project that brought together an allied group of climate, equity and justice, conservation, and environmental organizations centered on the urgent need for a managed, just, and equitable transition away from New Mexico’s current over-dependence on oil and gas revenues to address the climate emergency. The campaign’s message, designs, stories, and videos have been adopted and shared widely in conversations about environmental protection and social justice.
Liliana has experience in writing, storytelling, and messaging for various spokespeople and audiences. She is adept at translating complex data and information into values-based messaging for broad and targeted audiences. Liliana has engaged in team and workflow management in multiple roles and has been trained in racial equity and justice principles and applications. Liliana earned her Bachelor of Arts in photojournalism at the University of North Texas with a minor in social sciences.
Kelli Trapnell (she/they/lets talk about gender)

Director of Branding and Content
Kelli Trapnell is a content marketing and branding expert who works with companies and organizations of all sizes to share their stories (and their values) with the world.
Kelli believes that razor-sharp storytelling can compel audiences to action, win over even the hardest sells, and cement an organization's legacy in their industry.
Kelli has managed projects at The New Yorker, written for Business Insider, and launched effective branding campaigns for dozens of companies.
Kelli is a New York Foundation of the Arts award-winning writer and holds an MFA in writing from Columbia University.
Kamau Purce (he/him)

Data Manager
Kamau is a Data Manager who believes that high quality analytics and strategies begin their life as well sourced and organized data. Kamau has been passionate about technology from a young age and uses this passion to always be on the lookout for new methods and programs to expediate the acquisition and archival of information and data to best serve those who need it.
Kamau has previously worked as a hardware manager and configuration specialist for the Department of Veterans Affairs, a project that ultimately improved the quality of life of veterans seeking healthcare by streamlining the way veteran’s check-in at hospitals as well as how hospital clerks handle patient data. While later employed as a master motorcycle technician, he wrote several highly technical internal documents and procedures for use by other technicians to provide more high-quality repairs for recall work.
Kamau is a lifelong learner, eager to take complex issues and distill them into their most base parts. He is a self-taught programmer and is currently enrolled at the University of New Mexico, aiming for his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering.
Emma D’Angelico
Policy Research Associate
Emma is committed to empowering local governments and community organizations by providing comprehensive reports and presentations on data, legal cases, and governmental policies. Currently pursuing a double major in Political Science and Psychology at the University of New Mexico, Emma believes in the transformative power of community collaboration and accountability. She is convinced that through political advocacy and active participation, we can usher in a new era of innovation and equity.
Emma believes that the work that she does here at Single Space Strategies is impactful, particularly for communities disproportionately affected by oil and gas infrastructure, as well as governmental organizations that rely on accurate data and community feedback for their policies. Emma’s efforts also help other states and countries recognize New Mexico’s innovative infrastructure developments.
Emma's commitment to justice, equity, and a brighter future for coming generations drives her forward. With a strong background in community service, Emma has volunteered for over four years and served as the Service Leadership and Fellowship Committee Chair on a Kiwanis community service board her freshman year of college. Additionally, she is preparing for a congressional shadowing internship in Washington, D.C., in the spring semester of 2025, where she will further her advocacy and policy work. Thus through her vibrant contributions, Emma plans on paving the way for meaningful change both locally and beyond.
Ian Pendergrass
Policy Research Associate
Ian is a UNM undergraduate studying Finance and Political Science who believes that everyone’s story deserves to be told equitably and compassionately and by doing this, foster human connection that can transcend all barriers real and imagined. In pursuit of this Ian has had a lifelong connection with books and history as exposure to stories that both challenge and inform his perspective of the world as we experience it today. He is eager to contribute with a can-do attitude looking to do good wherever he can with the ability to provide qualitative or quantitative analysis to help tell stories that the world needs to hear.
Iram Camacho
Policy Research Associate
Iram is a Policy Research Associate who works with non-profit organizations to bring their public policy objectives to life. He believes in the importance of using policy as a means for creating the large-scale sustainable change that would otherwise seem unreachable. For Iram, the importance of having everyone’s voices heard is personal, thus catapulting his interest in public policy and future prospects of governmental policy making.
At Single Space, Iram works primarily in climate policy and local election outcome reports. Iram earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of New Mexico. Iram will begin a master’s degree program in Environment and Resource Management at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the Netherlands in September 2025.
Jessica Knox
Policy Research Associate
Jessica is a dedicated policy research associate who believes all impactful work stems from strategic organization and planning. She has a strong background in conducting research, data analysis, and crafting effective communications - skills she wants to use to empower and uplift her New Mexico community.
Prior to joining Single Space Strategies, Jessica conducted data driven research for the City of Albuquerque's 2024 Progress Report, measuring key indicators to inform policymakers and drive positive change. Additionally, she has served her New Mexico community as an intern in the U.S. House of Representatives and New Mexico State Legislature, where she engaged in policy research and constituent communication.
Jessica is particularly passionate about education policy: she is committed to advocating for policies that enhance educational opportunities and resources, ensuring every child in New Mexico has access to quality education. Her own educational journey is ongoing as she is simultaneously pursuing an MA in Political Science and a BA in History and Political Science from the University of New Mexico.
